Antalya airport to the centre

IN SHORT

Antalya (AYT) has a rare advantage among holiday airports: the municipal tram stops in front of the terminal and runs into the centre for pennies. Most people don’t know and take a taxi.

But there’s one specific trap worth knowing before you land: the tram stops opposite the domestic terminal and T1, and it does not serve T2. If your flight lands at T2, and plenty of European charters do, the tram isn’t at your door. Fares and times are on the operator’s site, linked from the city page.

The route, stop by stop

4 STOPS
  1. 01

AntRay: the tram, if you land at T1 or domestic

The AntRay runs as the municipal tram and comes cheap: it stops opposite the domestic terminal and T1 and runs down to İsmetpaşa, next to the old town and the bazaar. It costs an urban fare and is paid with the city transit card.

In exchange it’s slow: it runs at street level, stops everywhere and isn’t designed for big cases. If you’re travelling light and staying in Kaleiçi or the centre, it’s the best option by a distance.

Check the timetable on the operator’s site: it isn’t a 24-hour service.

  2. 02

    If you land at T2

Check this before you fly, because it changes the plan: the tram stop serves the domestic terminal and T1, not T2. Plenty of European charter and low-cost flights land at T2.

If that’s you, either get across to the T1 area first or plan on a taxi from the start. It isn’t a disaster, the terminals share the same grounds, but it is the difference between stepping off the plane and onto the tram, or not.

Check your boarding pass for your terminal.

  3. 03

Taxi: to Kaleiçi, Lara or Belek

In high season there’s a queue at the airport rank, but it moves fast. It’s the only option that works at any hour, with luggage, and above all the only one that reaches your accommodation if that’s a resort. To Kaleiçi it’s a short ride. To Lara and Belek it’s motorway, and Belek is some 30 kilometres out: don’t confuse it with going into the centre. Take it from the official terminal rank.

  4. 04

The hotel transfer, if you came on a package

If you bought a package to Lara, Kundu, Belek or Kemer, the airport transfer is most likely included and waiting in arrivals. It’s the reason a lot of people in Antalya never see a tram stop. Check your booking before you land, because at those distances a taxi isn’t cheap. And if the transfer is shared, expect it to call at several hotels before yours.

Frequently asked

How do you get from Antalya airport to the centre?

The AntRay tram stops opposite the domestic terminal and T1 and runs down to İsmetpaşa, next to the old town, for the price of an urban ticket. It’s slow but it’s the cheapest. The alternative is a taxi, the only option at any hour.

Does the Antalya airport tram stop at T2?

No. The AntRay serves the domestic terminal and T1, but it does not reach T2, where many European charter flights land. If you arrive at T2, plan on a taxi or on getting across to the T1 area first.

How long is Antalya airport to the Belek hotels?

Belek is about 30 km east of the airport by motorway, so it isn’t a city hop: it’s a taxi or a transfer. Almost every package to Belek, Lara and Kemer includes one. Worth checking your booking before you land.
